Steve's campaign is donation matched. Once hisr target of £439 was reached, a generous sponsor donated an additional £439 to Steve's plan.
Savings goal: Vital furnishing
Hi, I’m Steve. I’ve been homeless for almost 20 years. In the last year I’ve been working really hard and now have an opportunity for a flat and training to get into work.
Over the last year I’ve overcome my substance dependencies and I’ve also been volunteering almost full time. I’ve worked with Aspire a lot and they have been really impressed by me and my efforts. This means they have offered me a position as a homelessness ambassador. I’m excited by this because it’s a position that allows me to help people leave homelessness behind. It’ll allow me to get the qualifications I need to become a support worker.
Becoming a support worker is my ambition. I know I will connect with people going through homelessness and other challenges a lot better than someone who has no experience of this could.
As a result of everything I have done I’ve finally got a chance to get a flat. It has no furnishings at all though – no curtains, pots, pans, bed, sofa, carpet or anything. I’d be spending money on getting these things along with white goods so I can live there properly and not just have a roof. I would also be purchasing a bike so I can get to and from town to continue my volunteering.
